Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows, #1)

Kim Harrison
All the creatures of the night gather in "the Hollows" of Cincinnati, to hide, to prowl, to party ... and to feed. Vampires rule the darkness in a predator-eat-predator world rife with dangers beyond imagining -- and it’s Rachel Morgan's job to keep that world civilized. A bounty hunter and witch with serious sex appeal and an attitude, she'll bring 'em back alive, dead ... or undead.

Not bad, not great. I'd have to read more to see if Harrison murders her characters and story like Hamilton did but I'm not sure I care enough to do so. I like this better than Butcher, too. Some things about the Dresden Files are kind of repetitive. This being only book one of The Hollows doesn't guarantee this series won't fall victim to that, as well. Basically, it comes down to whether I feel like reading any more fantasy crime/detective novels, ever. That goes for you, too.

I really, really liked this book!

It was a little slow to get going, but by the time I got to the 2nd half of the book, I could not stop reading. Ms. Harrison has built a very interesting world, and her characters are very well written and multi-dimensional.

Can't wait to read the next in the series!
