Case Histories

Atkinson, Kate
Case one: A little girl goes missing in the night. Case two: A beautiful young office worker falls victim to a maniac's apparently random attack. Case three: A new mother finds herself trapped in a hell of her own making - with a very needy baby and a very demanding husband - until a fit of rage creates a grisly, bloody escape.Thirty years after the first incident, as private investigator Jackson Brodie begins investigating all three cases, startling connections and discoveries emerge . . .

I needed something different, something with light humor and less darkness, after finishing Gone Girl. This was it. I had seen the BBC production, but it's well worth reading the book. Atkinson has a sense of humor I appreciate, and her characters, although flawed, are likeable.

I devoured this book. The characters had depth, the stories blended together seamlessly, a page-turning plot structure...very well done.

I actually didn't finish reading this. The set-up in the first few chapters was just too depressing. I gave to Deedy Magill to keep. I might read the rest of the book someday because I like Atkinson's other books, and other people have enjoyed this book.
