I don't know what to say, really. It may have helped if I had reread the past three books over before reading this as I did not feel connected with nor invested in the characters. Also, I kept waiting for ...something... more from the plot. I'm not sure what, just something. It doesn't feel complete in my head. It may not be entirely fair to hold this book up against The Crippled God, though.
Giving 2stars because I liked the earlier books and will read them all again when the next one comes out.
There is a lot that I can let pass while reading a leisure best seller. It can be cliche driven, utterly formulaic, completely devoid of substance, and filled with hollow characters...Being BORED by it it's absolutely unforgivable. I'd kill time studying if that's what I was looking for.I won't finish it. I decided to take a break of it 2 thirds in, hoping that a bit of time would make the sick go away. One month later, I haven't neither continued, nor read ANYTHING ELSE. It got me stuck, and I resent that. I'm summarily dropping it.So, this was a total waste of my time. I'm running out of superlatives to explain how much this book is placed squarely on the FAIL column. I recommend avoidance.
