The art in this version is really fantastic and weird. I loved it! I wish the artist had done Through the Looking Glass as well. :/ 5 stars for the art. Now taking recommendations for the version of TTLG that I should pick up.
The story itself is quite a bit more odd than Disney portrayed it. They toned it down a lot, if you can believe it. It's not quite so directionless as most pre-Tolkien fantasy I've tried to read but it still reads more like what I imagine a trip on hallucinogenic drugs would be than a story with cause, effect, and plot. 3 stars for trippy weirdness. Honestly, the best thing about this text is how it has inspired the artists and writers who have read it.
