Awakening (Dover Thrift Editions), The

Kate Chopin
First published in 1899, this novel shocked readers with its open sensuality and uninhibited treatment of marital infidelity. The poignant, lyrical story of a New Orleans wife who attempts to find love outside a stifling marriage, critics have praised it as a forerunner of the modern novel. New introductory Note.

I love the ending. I disliked the whole Arobin arc line, maybe a little flirtation but not more I guess. I like the characters and the growth of her freedom. I also believe her love drove her a bit mad but wish she could have tried a little bit with Robert before he left her. So happy how she ended it though.
