Fellowship of the Ring: Being the First Part of The Lord of the Rings, The

J.R.R. Tolkien
The first volume in J.R.R. Tolkien's epic adventure THE LORD OF THE RINGS   One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind themIn ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, the Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell into the hands of Bilbo Baggins, as told in The Hobbit. In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as his elderly cousin Bilbo entrusts the Ring to his care. Frodo must leave his home and make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose.“A unique, wholly realized other world, evoked from deep in the well of Time, massively detailed, absorbingly entertaining, profound in meaning.” – New York Times

oh i dont have words to describe this masterpiece. well deserved classic of the fantasy genre. i certainly expected to enjoy it but not this much and did not expect quite some differences from the movies. i skipped the song during my read and then came back to it and found it to be quite enjoyable and adds to the ambiance of the story. the use of time is really important considering despite knowing how it will end i still get spooked in many moments and sometimes feel a sweet kind basically elvish presence around me in certain scenes. glorfinder is iconic and should be in the movies i love arwen but glorfindels my man. also the way there are things you dont notice that actuallly has quite greaat significance in light of the event of the silmarillion. for instance that time gimli wanted to make an oath because he feels it will strengthen him in the quest and elrond immediatelly went NO! NO OATHS! YOURE GONNA HATE YOURSELF AND DIE which in the first read feels like elrond just being paranoid but knowing that he was raised by Maedhros and Maglor changes everything. loved the depth of the worldbuilding and how even random throwaway lines have some sort of lore significance to them. 5/5 would recommend to anyone and everyone
