Time out for special needs!: handbook
Parents of children with special educational needs often feel isolated and frustrated that ‘standard parenting advice’ sometimes doesn’t work. This seven-session course aims to help them share feelings and experiences, and come up with their own solutions to problems on the basis of what works - not what’s meant to work! Topics covered include helping self-esteem, coping with feelings, understanding and managing behaviour, home/school issues and the wider family. For SENCOs, family support workers, community group leaders, parents themselves and all those involved in supporting parents in either a befriending or professional capacity.
