Fond memories of this entirely enchanting and too cute for its own good Anne with an E ...

To go a little of topic and a bit personal, I wrote, in my novel, about how reading is a journey of self-discovery and the more I read the truer my own words feel. It s ever so surprising in the best way to find pieces of myself in so many different characters, genres and books and in Anne, I found a side of myself I most adore and am most shy of - her love of big words and romantic notions with that honest flare for drama and beautifuly tragic.

The setting and age of the novel was a problem for a few moments, as I can have quite a temper when it comes to those old worldviews and it took me a while not to get angry when they did not like Anne just because she was original, creative, fierce, a girl! etc. - those kind of things really get to me.

I was also overjoyed to guess at a future development and really surprised that Anne serie does not only span her yearly years but her whole life! And by this point, that is even more exciting.

The descriptions of nature were, at some point, in abundance while her ordinary and childlike ways were more than okay and did not got on my nerves, which is a talent unlike one of J.K.R and the feelings this novel stirred felt so pure and genuine ...

Anne has this great gift of seeing things not only in the most interesting way but also most uniquely optimistic, making every single moment an adventure and a delight, that made this book deserving of every award and all that popularity surrounding it.

All in all, 5 stars are the only rating deserving of Anne and I, after seeing her story, shall not deprive her of this most deserved praise.

I just loved this book! Excuse me while I pack my stuff to live on Prince Edward Island.

The characters, the setting--it was great. Anne is whimsical, and eccentric, and lovable. She's a whirlwind of ideas, and drama, and fun. Matthew and Marilla are the balance she needs, and she is the balance they need. It's funny, and sad, and just a true delight. Now I'm caught up in Avonlea and will be headed back to visit in the next book of the series.
