Can You Keep a Secret?

Sophie Kinsella
Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets: Secrets from her boyfriend: I’ve always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken. Secrets from her mother: I lost my virginity in the spare bedroom with Danny Nussbaum while Mum and Dad were downstairs watching Ben-Hur. With a cover that pink this can only be chick lit. I liked this book a great deal, though. I laughed and cried and one thing is very true, from the story: Emma, the MC, is pretty much a real girl. Her hopes, dreams, fronts, lies, disappointments, triumphs, etc. are a fairly honest portrayal of what might go on in any given young woman's head. The particulars won't be the same for everyone but the general truths shine through:
1) people are complicated
2) people are internally conflicted
3) things don't always go according to plan
4) the first, second, third, or even twelfth plan still might not be the proper one for you.
This was good, light, fun, and I suggest you read it.
