This is quite the novel, the longest book I've ever read! Read it I did, too. I will say that the first half or so is very engaging and I liked the compare/contrast with Scarlett's situation and the broader war and reconstruction. However, this book dragged on a lot in the second half. Although it was still interesting enough to read, I feel like a lot of it could have been condensed considerably.
