I can't remember if I saw this one on submission or if it was a colleague of mine at SMP for whom I read, but I remember having some issues with the folklore aspect of this book. However, I am happy to say the editor caught all my questions and worked with the author to create an engaging murder mystery novel wrapped up in an Asian-inspired fantasy world. <3

Fun and recommended for readers who like Tamora Pierce.
