Now she's on the run, desperate to find the one safe haven left for kids like her-East River. She joins a group of kids who escaped their own camp. Liam, their brave leader, is falling hard for Ruby. But no matter how much she aches for him, Ruby can't risk getting close. It took a little time for me to get into the book, but once I did I couldn’t put it down. I did some skimming through parts that were a bit wordy (and then ended up having to go back and read them to figure out what was going on). I did like how Alexandra developed the characters, even mute Suzume had a “voice.” I wanted to cry at the end (books don’t normally make me want to cry), and I can’t wait to read the second and third books! I hope (and assume) that the other two are just as good because I would have been happy with a different ending that would have made this a stand alone book.

Okay so the beginning was really great, I always love a good fantasy book about ado with powers. But I got a bit in over my head and I couldn't stop reading it. And well, it's a period when I need to study a lot so I just went to the last chapter (I wanted to know the end so I could sleep and finish it the next day) and I was soooo disapppointed that I just couldn't finish it ...

I really do guess it's an amazing book (I still read the 2/3 in almost a single day) but I didn't like how it ended so I just stopped reading ...
