Little Red Gliding Hood is a charming, winter-filled rendition of the story Little Red Riding Hood. The river in the enchanted forest is frozen over, so Little Red laces up her “worn-in and worn-out” ice skates. She is worried that soon she won’t be able to use her skates to go see her grandma. Then, an announcement is made that there will be an ice skating competition with a winning prize of brand new skates! The only problem is that Little Red needs a partner. Her grandma advises that she ask one of The Three Little Pigs and on her way there she runs into the Big Bad Wolf! She skates away as fast as she can, but the Big Bad Wolf is swiftly on her tail, showing his impressive ice skating skills. Her laces are untied and she begins to fall -- then all of a sudden the Not-So-Bad Wolf catches her. Little Red realizes the wolf can skate very well -- and he is nice! She then asked him to be her partner in the competition. The wintery illustrations fill the pages with cool blues, purples, and whites. This book is full of famous fairy-tale characters and unlikely pairings who create friendships. Many readers will love the twist on this classic story and its new setting. Submitted by: Mercedes R.
