Stephen King
A modern classic, "Carrie" introduced a distinctive new voice in American fiction -- Stephen King. The characters are vibrant and fleshed out. The suspense was built up until the last quarter and the novel has a plethora of perspectives that kept me engaged throughout. This is fundamentally a revenge story, one of an outcast against the world that almost broke her. Some would say it did. Of course, the world never learned from its mistakes and maybe that's the most realistic ending of all. Great job, Stephen King.
